Seneca Towne Restaurant: A Beloved American Diner in West Seneca

I struggled with rating this one. If I was to have simply ordered takeout and had it delivered, I would have given a solid 5. Because I walked in to order takeout, that's how the 4 arrived. Didn't have to wait long but there long enough to say that the place needs a very serious cleaning. Actually surprised it didn't have violations. The bathroom was so gross. Despite all of this, I still chose to eat the salad that was actually well cooked and nicely seasoned. Thankfully, it seems that all the dust and grime stayed away from my food and I am still here to talk about it.

Best rice pudding ever. We have visited here for it since we were kids, and it never disappoints. Lemon/rice soup was delicious too! Great owners.

Love this place. It's pretty much a landmark after all these years operating. I usually just go there for breakfast. Super fast and prices, portions and service is great! Towne Omelet with Texas sauce is my fave...

Finally stopped in and tried Seneca Towne in West Seneca. It's your run of the mill, kinda outdated Greek style family diner. Gotta say the food was spot on. Had the Gyro Dinner, also the Chicken souvlaki dinner. Both were really good, the lamb was slightly dry, but everything was still great. Great friendly service too. Would definitely come back and try more.

As others on Yelp have stated, the Seneca Towne Restaurant has been around forever in West Seneca. My wife and I have been coming here every time we're back in the 716 for 22+ years. She is not a Buffalo native and this is by far her go to place at least twice when we're here. We even took our entire out of town wedding party here after our rehearsal dinner. Our favorite is the open face Chicken Souvlaki and it NEVER EVER disappoints. The marinade on the chicken is spot on, the salad is fresh and the portion is large for the price. The Greek dressing is to die. The pitas are always cooked perfect and adding French fries is the way to go. You always go home with leftovers. Best thing on the menu by far. This past time I tried the daily special called the Towne Burger and it was huge and tasty. The waitress was late and the cook came and took our order and he was super nice and even checked up to see if the food tasted good and we were happy with our meal. The restaurant itself is in need of updating...like Robert Irvine updating but once you eat the food you forget all of the blemishes and age. Sure if they put some money in a facelift it would be nicer.

If it were a a lingerie store, it'd be Seeknickers Towne. If it were a strip club, it'd be Seeknockers Towne. And if it were a graveyard full of voyeurs watching immoral horny people doing bad deeds with lifeless partners, it'd be Seenecrophelia Towne. Thankfully (or not?) it's not. What to get: Chicken Souvlaki, Choc Shake. What else: anything. So they still have excellent Souvlaki after all these years and I still enjoy coming here for my Chicken Souvlaki fix when I'm in this area. Buffalo has some of the best Souvlaki in the whole country so I highly recommend stopping by and giving it a try when you are in these parts. My original review had more detail: If it were a purveyor of candy, it'd be Snickers Towne. A grossly underrated restaurant in a grossly underrated category. We casually give G-A Diners 1-4 stars without realizing how great & uniquely WNY they are, with high standards of deliciousness, portion size and (usually) pricing. If the chicken was actually bloodily sacrificed in front of the customers, it'd be Santeria Towne. Venture elsewhere and diners have lesser standards. G-A is not the norm, as in Buffalo. Where they exist, they're different & inferior. Dry chicken. No oil. Pre-cooked Gyro. As for WNY Chocolate Shakes: huge sizes, creamy, luscious. Not so much in other regions. If it were a dead racing driver, it'd be Ayrton Senna Towne. Cherish them while you can. Many won't last. Embassy & Sala are long gone, now Spilios too. One day it'll all be tasteless bland corporate monstrosities like Olive Garden, Denny's, or trendy overpriced overhyped flavourless Greek like Pano's or Zoe (sorry). If it were a gas station, it'd be Sunoco Towne. Enough rambling. Come (that's what she said) try Seneca Towne. One of so many great Greek-American WNY diners. Just because we have so many, doesn't mean they're worth less. They're worth more, because we're blessed with so many, thus they help define the region, they're our culinary identity, what makes us special. It'll take more effort to keep these places in business than the "in vogue" hipster spots. But they deserve it. Cheaper - and better. If it were full of sarcastic people, it'd be Snideremark Towne. I got the Chicken Souvlaki Dinner: a mountain of delicious juicy chicken, Greek-sautéed for days, a bottle of oil in case you want more sautée, hot, wet Greek potatoes, & a lovely, enormous, feta-covered Greek salad. Fresh, wet, basic, hits the salad spot. Feta quality good. Pita bread too. If it were owned by a former Steeler (serving Roethlisbergers), it'd be Seneca Wallace Towne. My friend got a Gyro Omelet with Feta. It wasn't as wet as we like it, but still good. Gyro meat: excellent. Buffalo-style Gyro (chopped spiced meat patties), juicy, full of flavour. Toast: very good. Buttery, fluffy, yum. Not the stellar homemade level of Nick's but still excellent. If it were full of sexy tiny fake tanned girls, it'd be Snooki Towne. I also got a chocolate shake. Excellent. One of the better shakes in town, I would say. Cloudy, thick, creamy and milky. It was enough for two. They brought the metal tin so I had extra shake when done with the cup full. So essentially, like many hard drugs have done, they gave me the shakes. If it were owned by Kermit, it'd be Sesame St Towne. Actually, if it were on Sesame St, it'd be Snuffleupagus Towne. Which sounds like Snooki'llf*ckus, which would be (a) inappropriate for Sesame St, and (b) way better than anything ever on Sesame St. It's out in West Seneca. Sometimes packed, sometimes not. Owners commented that it was usually dead. Open until 9pm each night, so it's good for all three meals. Or four. Or seven & a half. Are we still talking about meals? If it were full of deep sea divers (no, not a figurative sexual reference, I'm above such things), it'd be Snorkellers Towne. Service: excellent, prices: affordable. Some of the best G-A in town. It's hard to penetrate (ahem) the top 10 G-A places in Buffalo, even harder (like me) to penetrate (cough cough) the top 5. But this place did it effortlessly. If you're someone that routinely rates every G-A place in town 2 or 3, you may not like it despite its high standards. Perhaps you don't appreciate how good we have it in WNY And if it were full of old people that can't remember which government building they bombed in the 60s (as retribution for a local forest being felled), it'd be Senile-eco-terrorist Towne. But it's not. Now, does anybody want to do Greek with me?

Been coming here for years - not for the decor, but for the best chicken souvlaki around. Big portions, very affordable . Old time family place that existed before the chains tool over. Not sparking clean, but serviceable. Food outweighs the atmosphere!!
